SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — The Swanton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday, July 20 on the Ohio Turnpike near I-475.
According to investigators, a 40-year-old woman from Toledo was driving a Ram 1500 truck eastbound on the turnpike at approximately 10:43 p.m. when she struck a pedestrian walking across the eastbound lane of the turnpike.
OSHP identified the pedestrian as Matthew Savord, 30, of Toledo. Authorities state that Savord was pronounced dead at the scene.
Circumstances surrounding Savord's presence on the Ohio Turnpike are currently unknown.
As of Sunday, July 21 charges have not been filed against the female driver.
