Pedestrian struck in west Toledo Friday morning

The incident occurred after 8 a.m.

TOLEDO, Ohio — UPDATE: Laskey Road has since reopened in both directions. This story has also been updated to reflect new information made available in a Toledo police report. 

Authorities are on the scene of an incident involving a pedestrian in west Toledo Friday morning.

According to dispatch authorities, a person was struck in 2800 block of West Laskey Road at approximately 8 a.m. 

According to a Toledo police report, a driver was traveling eastbound on Laskey toward Douglas when a flagger working for a construction company attempted to stop traffic. The worker was wearing reflective gear.

The driver failed to stop, police claimed, and then struck the construction worker, who sustained blunt force trauma. 

The victim, a male, was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to a police report. Police are withholding the name of the victim pending family notification. 

The incident has impacted traffic, including a closure on a portion of West Laskey. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the incident, police said.
