Teacher and student musical groups from Perrysburg Schools to hold benefit concert

The Clipboards and The Protractors will rock out on Oct. 2 at the Maumee Indoor Theater to raise money for students of families facing financial hardship.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Get ready to rock out for a good cause with The Clipboards and The Protractors — both musical groups from Perrysburg Schools.

The teacher-comprised Clipboards, which school district spokesperson Rachel Zickar says is its "official 'Rock Band,' and its student horn section known as The Protractors will host a free concert benefitting the Perrysburg Schools Foundation’s Full Experience Fund at the Maumee Indoor Theater on Oct. 2.

Doors for the event open at 6:30 p.m. and it runs from 7-8:30 p.m. Advance tickets are necessary and can be obtained here. And while the concert is free, donations are encouraged.

The fund helps support students of families facing financial hardship participate in the various extracurriculars and other activities in the school district, Zickar said in a press release.

Both groups were founded in 2023.

"Teachers in The Clipboards are bound by one rule - no formal training on their instruments or voice - so they can experience learning and growing side-by-side with their student counterparts in The Protractors. The Clipboards and The Protractors were recently the featured performers at the Ohio State School Board Spring Conference and have already performed for over 3,000 people at school and district assemblies, local events, children's homes and senior living communities!" the press release states.
