Person riding lawnmower killed in crash with minivan in Williams County

EDON, Ohio — A person riding a lawnmower without its rear lights on died after being struck by a minivan in Williams County Friday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Thomas Patterson, 65, of Edon, was riding a lawnmower southbound on state Route 49 in Florence Township, which borders the Ohio-Indiana state line, just after 10 p.m. on Friday, OSHP says.

Another person was driving a minivan southbound on the same road when they struck Patterson's lawnmower.

Patterson was ejected from the lawnmower and pronounced dead at the scene, according to OSHP.
