WOOD COUNTY, Ohio — A pickup truck driver died in a crash involving a semi truck in Wood County Monday afternoon.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office told WTOL 11 just before 3:45 p.m., 31-year-old Jacob Kern, of Deshler, was traveling south on Range Line Road, about six miles west of Bowling Green, and failed to stop at a stop sign.
A semi, which was hauling a tanker trailer, was driving eastbound on U.S. 6 when its trailer was struck by the pickup in the intersection.
The pickup became lodged under the semi trailer and caught fire. Kern was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver was uninjured, according to a press release.
U.S. 6 was closed in both directions to clean up the scene. It has since re-opened.
The crash remains under investigation.
