Point Place family safe after home ignites in flames early Friday

Fire crews believe the fire was accidental.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A  family in Point Place is safe after their house caught on fire early Friday.

The flames began at a home on 137th Street around 1:15 a.m.

The Toledo Fire Battalion Chief at the scene told WTOL a child inside the home smelled smoke and woke up their parent. They then grabbed another infant and baby chickens and ran outside.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials believe the blaze was accidental.

TFRD crews also responded to two other house fires Friday morning, one in west Toledo that sent four people to the hospital; and another in east Toledo at a vacant home.
