NAPOLEON, Ohio — Police will be stepping up patrols at schools in Napoleon on Monday after a threat was made to the district.
In a letter to parents, school staff, and the community released on the school district’s social media account on Sunday evening, Napoleon Area City Schools Superintendent Erik Belcher and Napoleon Police Chief Edward Legg said an employee received an email on Friday from an “identified person” with a threat to the school district.
After being notified by the district, police began an investigation.
The letter went on to say “the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain the focus of our mission and we are currently taking all appropriate steps to ensure everyone’s safety.”
As a result of the threat Napoleon police will be providing added patrols throughout the school day on Monday.
The name of the person who sent the email was not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
