Pat Dailey, 'the Jimmy Buffet of the North,' has died, family says

Dailey was well-known around Toledo, Sandusky and Cleveland and was perhaps best known for his concerts on Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie.

PUT-IN-BAY, Ohio — Local singer-songwriter Pat Dailey, who was perhaps best known for his rowdy shows on Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie, has died at age 83.

Dailey’s son Reese, made the announcement on Facebook on Thursday.

Lake Erie and the Lake Erie islands featured heavily in Dailey’s songs, many of which he recorded and released starting in the late 1960s and carrying through the 2010s.

But it was his live shows that Dailey was best known for and which made him, without a doubt, the most well-known local musician on an island known for packed bars and rowdy sing-alongs.

Dailey was often referred to “the Jimmy Buffet of the North” and often played shows on Buffett's home turf in Key West, Florida.

Pat Dailey, died in his home, surrounded by his family, according to son Reese.
