SWANTON, Ohio — The Swanton Fire Department battled a fire at a home in Fulton County Monday morning.
Fire crews were called out to the Swanton home near County Road 4 around 3:30 a.m. Upon arrival, heavy flames could be seen on the front of the home.
WTOL 11 crews could see small flames on the roof of the home. The fire department quickly contained the fire and worked to put out any hot spots.
Swanton Fire Chief Ed Dziengelski on the scene told WTOL 11 there were two residents inside during the time of the fire, one male and one female who were able to make it out safely. No one was injured.
Chief Dziengelski also said it seems the fire started on the front porch before spreading to the rest of the home. An investigation will be opened to determine what started the fire.
Multiple agencies assisted as firefighters went inside to secure the home.
Toledo Edison was also on scene working to restore a power line above the home.
