Viral Art Show grows from local showcase into large artist community

The Facebook group has become a place for area artists to post their latest work

PORT CLINTON, Ohio — What started as a quick solution to give local artists an outlet online has grown, and continues to grow.

On March 26, the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council launched a Facebook Group call the Viral Art Show.

It was a chance to give local artists who couldn't show off their work at art shows a little extra publicity.

And now, nearly three months later, the posts are still coming in.

From paintings, sculptures, glass-work, and even jewelry, the group has has grown to feature submissions from the state of Georgia, and even Scotland.

Some post weekly, while a few have been posting daily works.

Organizers are happy to have created a space where everyone's work can be enjoyed and shared.

"We don't know who is stuck at home, we don't know who is getting out and a out either. With the lack of art shows that are going to be happening this Summer, we are in hopes of perhaps doing a few more things," said Rebecca  Booth with GPAAC.

The  plan is to keep this Viral Art Show going for the foreseeable future. And you don't have to be a member of the group to log on and see what folks are posting.
