Power lost at west Toledo intersection after car crashes into pole, flips Thursday morning

The single-vehicle accident happened around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of West Sylvania Avenue and Monroe Street.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A nasty car crash in west Toledo caused a headache for early Fourth of July travelers Thursday morning.

The single-vehicle accident happened around 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of West Sylvania Avenue and Monroe Street near Notre Dame Academy.

A utility line is down and power is out at the intersection.

Access to Sylvania Avenue is blocked off at the traffic light.

Monroe Street traffic is uninterrupted and drivers are able to get through.

Toledo police at the scene told WTOL a possible medical episode may have been a factor, although an exact cause has not been determined.

The driver denied medical treatment, according to officials at the scene.
