Hunter Brucks says he will not return for Promenade Park summer concert series

Hunter Brucks took over the city's summer concert series from ProMedica.

TOLEDO, Ohio — HB Concerts owner Hunter Brucks said he will not return for the downtown Toledo summer concert series in 2025, just a year after he took over the event from ProMedica.

A city of Toledo spokesperson told WTOL 11 Thursday that Brucks told the city that night that he doesn't intend to return to manage the series in 2025.

Brucks, who secured several acts for the city and commissioned the building of an amphitheater at Promenade Park in 2024, told WTOL 11 he offered his services to the city for another year, but under different conditions. He said he told the city he would be interested in returning, but only if the city were to take on more risk in the proposed 2025 series.

Brucks then told the city he would not be returning.

The city now plans to work with ConnecToledo on future plans in downtown, including the summer concert series.

The 2024 series

Toledo City Council approved Brucks to handle the summer concert series in October 2023, after ProMedica said they would no longer manage it. The city made him responsible for 10 concerts. Throughout 2024, Brucks brought eight total musical acts to Toledo - including TLC.

The remaining two acts, boy band "98 Degrees" and "Palomazo Norteño," were canceled. 98 Degrees fell through because of a Netflix contract conflict, while the latter was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, Brucks said.

Brucks had previously sought to construct an amphitheater off of U.S. 24 in Waterville, to some controversy. After a judge approved it, Brucks said he was no longer interested in Waterville, and turned his interests toward downtown Toledo.
