TOLEDO, Ohio — The city of Toledo is hosting several public comment meetings as it seeks input from the community ahead of improvements to several neighborhoods.
With funds from a $20 million federal grant awarded in 2023, the city aims to make improvements to the Junction, Englewood and Uptown neighborhoods in central Toledo. To facilitate these improvements, the city is asking the public for their thoughts and ideas.
The project will target thirty-eight city blocks for infrastructural improvements, including utility upgrades, safety features and beautification projects. Additionally, the project aims to build a new TARTA Mobility Hub with several upgrades and improvements, like free wi-fi, bike shelters and more.
The meetings will be held at the following dates, times and locations:
Thursday, Dec. 5
- Location: Toledo School for the Arts, 333 14th St. #4
- Time: 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 10
- Location: Mott Branch Library, 1010 Dorr St.
- Time: 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 12
- Location: Jefferson Center, 1300 Jefferson Ave.
- Time: 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m.
The $20 million grant was awarded by the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The project in total will cost $53 million.
According to the city of Toledo's website, the project will operate on the following timeline:
- 2024-2025: Pre-design and public engagement
- 2025-2026: Design
- 2027-2030: Construction
