TOLEDO, Ohio — The opening for the Glass City Metropark's Ribbon ice skating trail has been delayed one week due to warm weather, Metroparks Toledo announced on social media.
The 1,000-foot trail will open for the 2024-25 season on Nov. 15 and close on March 2 of next year.
Its first full season was last year and brought in more than 50,000 skaters with an average of almost 500 per day.
The announcement of the delayed opening comes after an unseasonably warm October and the first few days of November seeing a slight cooldown but still above average. High temperatures into mid-November are forecasted to be in the 60s, according to the WTOL 11 Weather Team.
The trail opens at 10 a.m. daily and closes after the last session — each lasts 90 minutes. Hours are subject to change for special events, though, according to Metroparks Toledo's website. The trail will be closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas days.
Reservations for the trail are also open.
Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for children 4 to 12 and seniors 65 and over. Children 3 and younger are free. Visitors can bring their own skates or rent a pair.
The ice is maintained by an underground cooling system and smoothed by a Zamboni machine.
