Police give 'all clear' to Amazon facility in Rossford evacuated after likely hoax bomb threat

The Rossford Police Department gave the "all clear" and said roads were opening back up Tuesday night just over four hours after initially responding to the scene.

ROSSFORD, Ohio — Police gave the "all clear" and said nearby roads are reopening Tuesday night at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Rossford after a likely hoax bomb threat forced an evacuation earlier in the evening.

Rossford police cleared the building just after 11 p.m., a little over four hours after authorities initially responded to the scene on Crossroads Parkway.

"All indications point to it being a hoax. We will be using all available resources to investigate where the call came from," Rossford police said in a statement to WTOL 11.

The Rossford Police Department requested that anyone with information call Det. Sgt. Patrick Kwiatkowski at 419-666-7390.

A large crowd of people was seen leaving the building at about 7:20 p.m. and Amazon semi trucks were seen being prevented from driving into the facility throughout the evening.

"A majority of employees" were sent home and the building was fully evacuated as law enforcement searched it, according to police.

Police at the scene told WTOL 11 that Amazon initially intended to have employees return to work after the building had been cleared but had not notified the department on how it intended to do so.

However, in a statement on Wednesday evening, an Amazon spokesperson said employees were sent home with pay for the night and normal operations resumed in the morning.

Perrysburg and Perrysburg Township police also responded to the scene along with Rossford police.
