TOLEDO, Ohio — Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, the Toledo Police Department dispatched officers to the 900 block of Oak Street for a domestic violence call. When officers were on route, the call was upgraded to a code three after shots were reportedly fired at the residence.
Upon arrival, officers found evidence of shots being fired at a 44-year-old Toledo woman who lived in the residence. The victim stated that her ex-boyfriend, Gerald Pfaff, 54, had woken her up and a scuffle ensued. Pfaff then fired three shots at the victim before fleeing the scene.
As the suspect fled, he indicated that he was going to take his own life.
Officers believed that he had retreated to his residence and issued a warrant for Pfaff. Forced entry was used to enter the suspect's apartment, damaging the door and the door frame. Pfaff was not located inside the building.
