SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Fire crews battled a house fire in Springfield Township Monday evening. An excavator later dismantled a portion of the burned facade due to concerns the house may collapse.
Four individuals were injured and hospitalized, Springfield Township Fire Department Battalion Chief Andrew Sauder said. The extent of the injuries is currently unknown.
The cause of the fire is also unknown. A house to the right of the scene has also sustained fire damage, Sauder said.
The fire is under investigation.
Neighbors at the scene told WTOL 11 they saw residents run out of the home and across the street, where they helped comfort them with blankets until first responders arrived.
One neighbor said the residents had singed hair and partially-burned clothes.
