TOLEDO, Ohio — St. John's Jesuit High School's president, Mark Swentkofske, resigned Monday, according to a letter to families from Principal Brendan Malone.
An interim president with be appointed in Swentkofske's absence and the "St. John's board of trustees will carefully determine the parameters of a new presidential search which will begin as soon as possible," Malone's letter states.
Chairman of the Board Jeff Savage provided the following statement, too:
"I speak for the entire SJJ community in thanking Mr. Swentkofske for his great love for St. John's, for Jesuit education, and for his service to the board. This is not a decision that he made lightly, and we respect his discernment."
Swentkofske, a 1984 St. John's graduate, became the school's 12th president when he was appointed on July 1, 2022. He succeeded Michael Savona, who had been president since 2017.
He was retired from military service as a colonel in the United States Air Force when trustees appointed him, according to a 2022 announcement.
