TOLEDO, Ohio — St. Francis de Sales and St. John's Jesuit schools are teaming up to launch "Drop the Gloves," a winter glove drive to help children in need in the area.
Fans and supporters are asked to bring new or gently worn gloves to scheduled rivalry week events or drop off the gloves at the main officers of either school.
Those looking to donate gloves can do so during these rivalry week games:
- Hockey: Wednesday, Dec. 11 at Tam-O-Shanter (Varsity, 8 p.m., Varsity B, 9 p.m.)
- Freshman and JV basketball: Thursday, Dec. 12 at St. Francis (Freshman, 6 p.m.; JV, 7:15 p.m.)
- Varsity basketball: Friday, Dec. 13 at St. Francis (7 p.m.)
St. Francis said all donations collected will be distributed to local children through community outreach programs.
“This is a great opportunity to focus the energy and spirit of our rivalry to make a meaningful impact on our community,” John Hall, principal of St. Francis de Sales School said.
