SANDUSKY COUNTY, Ohio — A trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol was injured Tuesday morning after their patrol car was rear-ended on the Ohio Turnpike.
The crash happened at 11:50 p.m. just west of the state Route 53 interchange in Sandusky County.
Curtis A. Rogers, 33, of Huron, was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck when he veered off the left side of the roadway and hit the trooper's car, according to a press release.
Law enforcement at the scene told WTOL the trooper was parked in the emergency crossover between the east and westbound traffic when Rogers slammed into the patrol car from behind.
The trooper was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Rogers was not hurt in the crash.
Rogers was found to be impaired during the crash, law enforcement claimed; he was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and aggravated vehicular assault.
