Toledo firefighter, paramedic Sterling 'Butch' Rahe has died

The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department made the announcement Monday morning.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Firefighter and paramedic Pvt. Sterling "Butch" Rahe has died, Toledo Fire and Rescue said in an announcement to media partners Monday. 

"It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we regret to inform you of the sudden death of our brother and fellow Firefighter/Paramedic Sterling (Butch) Rahe," a department spokesperson said in the message.

As the department's Public Information Officer, Rahe was the face of the department and worked with WTOL 11 in bringing stories to the public.

Toledo Fire and Rescue said they were working with Rahe's family to provide support and any assistance needed. They also said information on funeral services will be provided when available. The circumstances of Rahe's death have not been announced.
