PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Two boaters were rescued from the Maumee River after their boat got stuck on Tuesday morning.

At 11:19 a.m., Perrysburg Fire Division was called out to the Maumee River in the area of Riverside Park for two people on board a boat that hit the bottom of the river, became stuck and lost power.

The city said that PFD deployed their rescue boat from the Maple Street boat launch and brought the two boaters to the shore safely. No one was injured in the incident.

The owner of the boat is working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to recover the boat, according to the city. The boat can be seen in the Maumee River off the shore near Riverside Park, but the city said there are no safety or environmental concerns.

The Perrysburg Fire Division said they would like to remind boaters and anglers to wear Coast Guard-approved life jackets whenever they are near the water.

"The Maumee River is very unpredictable, and the wind has created an outflow impacting the water level in the river,” said Fire Chief William McCullough. “The water level may change rapidly causing boats and anglers to become trapped in areas that were passable earlier in the day."
