TOLEDO, Ohio — Street closures for restaurants in downtown and uptown Toledo will not be happening this Saturday, as originally planned. Both city officials and business owners agreed waiting until next week for the closures would be best.
"We want to consider starting this weekend down on Huron Street, and we all said we're okay to wait on this, in fact if we started it on a Wednesday that would be better," said Zach Lahey owner of Manhattan's Pub.
Last week the city announced they will be blocking off certain sections of streets on Wednesdays and Saturdays for the foreseeable future. Businesses will be able to expand seating out into the streets to accommodate more customers, while practicing social distancing.
Specific street closures from the city have not yet been announced, but they are going to happen in both uptown and downtown Toledo
"And each of those sections has a mixture of retail and bars and restaurants and so I think each little zone could really have its own character and so it's really something we've kind of always wanted to try out on Adam Street," said Lahey
The Wednesday street closures will last from 5-10 p.m. and the Saturday closures from 12-10 p.m.
