SYLVANIA, Ohio — The Sylvania Alternative Learn Academy (SALA) will serve as an option for students who choose 100% remote learning for the 2020-2021 school year.

SALA curriculum will be provided through Edgenuity for students K-12 in Sylvania Schools .

Students in elementary and junior high will be limited to basic core academic areas. An elective is offered as necessary to ensure each student has a minimum of five courses.

High school students will be scheduled in a minimum of five semester-long courses in order to be on track for graduation with minimum requirements.

SALA does not meet NCAA eligibility requirements for high school students.

A detailed overview of the academy can be found here

Registration for SALA will last from July 7 until July 20. Application forms can be found here.

The enrollment commitment is for the entire school year. Short-term absences from school due to COVID-19 or other issues will be handled through the traditional process rather than through SALA enrollment.

The Sylvania Board of Education says SALA creates a safe, respectful environment that integrates technology, personalized instruction and supportive relationships.
