SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio — Sylvania Township officially has a new trustee.
Jill Johnson was appointed trustee during a meeting Thursday evening. Johnson is currently a member of the Sylvania Schools Board of Education.
She has been a resident of Sylvania for over 30 years and currently lives in Sylvania Township, according to her profile on the Sylvania Schools website.
Johnson's term starts immediately and she will fill the role vacated by former Trustee John Crandall, who resigned from his seat last month.

Johnson's background is in nursing, receiving a master's degree in public administration/healthcare administration from the University of Toledo and nursing from UT's medical college, according to the Sylvania Schools website. She became a registered nurse through the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and is a certified family nurse practitioner.
She recently retired from the ProMedica Hickman Cancer Center, where she coordinated the cancer survivor program, and was selected in 2016 as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society "Woman of the Year Campaign" candidate.
Johnson is also a board member of the Sylvania Area Family Services.
