TARTA to offer free rides Tuesday, Feb. 13, for 'Ohio Loves Transit Week'

All fixed-route, paratransit and TARTA Flex services will be free of charge Tuesday.

LUCAS COUNTY, Iowa — The Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA) will offer free transportation to the public on Tuesday, Feb. 13 for Ohio Loves Transit Week. 

According to a press release from TARTA, all fixed-route, paratransit and TARTA Flex services will be offered free of charge Tuesday in an program facilitated by the Ohio Public Transportation Association. The event is designed to celebrate transit workers and agencies and the impact they have on their communities, TARTA said. 

"Public transportation agencies in Ohio put so many people in touch with where they need to be every day, and we are excited to make this gesture to our own passengers to celebrate Ohio Loves Transit Week," TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski said in the press release. "This wonderful event highlights everyone who works so hard to make public transit work for all of these communities."

TARTA leadership said they will meet with state legislators in Columbus next week to speak about the importance and value of funding public transportation.

"Investment in mobility can change lives by expanding options for jobs and healthcare and so many other aspects of life," Koprowski said. "We look forward to the coming improvements in our system that will make the ride easier and more affordable.
