This dispute follows a contract expiration between the two in January. Despite there being negotiations since then, Teamsters Local 283 said "Marathon has not been willing to bargain fairly with the Teamsters."
A total of 273 workers in a variety of positions at Marathon are represented by Teamsters Local 283. The union said following the expiration of the contract in January, Marathon Teamsters authorized a strike by 95%.
