TFRD: South Toledo home damaged in early morning fire, family safe

A family that lives there wasn't home when the fire began, according to emergency crews at the scene.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A home in south Toledo is left heavily damaged after bursting into flames early Thursday. 

Toledo Fire & Rescue Department responded to a fire call around 1 a.m. on the 200 block of Somerset Street near Airline Avenue.

Firefighters at the scene told WTOL 11 the fire started somewhere on the second floor but was put out before it could spread to neighboring homes.

A family that lives there wasn't home when the fire began, according to emergency crews at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
