DUNDEE, Mich. — The Dundee Police Department reported that four vehicles, cash and dozens of Michigan registration plates were stolen from the Williams Brothers Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Dealership just off of Ann Arbor Road. According to police, the theft occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday.
In a statement on Facebook, Dundee police said the department was notified of a break-in by dealership staff members Saturday morning.
Police shared a security video that showed five masked subjects entering the dealership around 6 a.m. after breaking a garage door window in the back of the building.
Police say that once inside, the subjects broke into multiple safes containing keys, cash and vehicle plates. According to police, the stolen keys were then used to steal four vehicles.
The stolen vehicles included a 2024 Dodge Durango, 2023 Dodge Ram, 2023 Dodge Charger and 2024 Jeep Compass, according to police.
Police said they believe the thieves are part of an "extremely-organized vehicle theft ring" that has been targeting car dealerships throughout the Great Lakes region.
Police state that evidence of the crime was found on the scene, including DNA and fingerprints. Security footage and other physical evidence were also collected.
The identities of the thieves are currently unknown and the incident is currently under investigation.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Pongracz at 734-823-5390 or rpongracz@villageofdundee.net.
