TIFFIN, Ohio — Around 4:39 p.m. on Thursday, Tiffin Police officers were called to a house on W. Perry St. for a vehicle that hit the home.
Police found that a male with a handgun had fired five to six shots at the vehicle and its occupants before the vehicle fled the scene.
A short time later, police were called to the 300 block of S. Monroe St. for a man that had been shot in the lower leg.
There, police found that the man and the vehicle had been involved in the first incident. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was later released.
A female passenger in the victim's vehicle was taken to the Tiffin Police Department and interviewed by detectives. Police say she was later released with the possibility of criminal charges being filed later for her actions in an incident that led up to the eventual confrontation and shooting.
Witnesses interviewed and an investigation were able to identify a 14 and 16-year-old who were involved with brandishing and firing the weapon. The suspects were located at 5:39 p.m. and taken into custody.
The 16-year-old was found in possession of a 9mm handgun. 9mm shell casings were recovered from the crime scene.
The 14-year-old was treated at the hospital for a possible leg injury alleged to have been hit by the vehicle that came into the home. Police say he was later released in the care of his mother.
The 16-year-old was taken to Seneca County Youth Center on charges of aggravated robbery and felonious assault.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
