TOLEDO, Ohio — The Traffic Safety Program from the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is offering a course for drivers age 50 and older to "refresh" their driving skills.

The TLCHD is offering the AARP's Smart Driver course on Thursday, April 11 for those 50 and older. The health department said the course will help drivers refresh their driving skills and "explore the new rules of the road."

Drivers that attend the course will also learn "research-based driving strategies" that will help reduce traffic violations, collisions and risk of injury, TLCHD said.

To register for the course, contact Natalie Haase at 419-461-6698 or email nhaase@co.lucas.oh.us.

The course will be held at The Villas at Sylvania located at 5351 Mitchaw Road. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. and the class begins at noon.

You can also visit the AARP website or call 1-888-773-7160 for additional resources.

The health department said the Smart Driver Course is the nation's largest driver safety course, in person and virtual.
