'Music is for everyone': Toledo 10-year-old publishes book on piano composers

Adam Elfadl began to read write and play piano all at just four years old.

TOLEDO, Ohio — This time of year, most children are preparing to receive gifts, But one local 10-year-old composer is sharing his gift of a love for music.

Adam Elfadl began to read write and play piano when he was just four years old.

"Music is for everyone and it doesn't matter who it is and it's a language that everyone can speak," he said.

Adam said it's easier to learn that language if you take the time to learn about the person who wrote it. When he couldn't find a book that taught him about the lives of piano composers, he decided to do the research and write it himself.

"Every day I would memorize one of them and I would study them at home," Adam said. "So, I wrote them down and when I finished the composers, I picked 50 of my favorites, the ones that influenced me the most."

The lives of those 50 influential composers can now be found in Adam's book, "A Trip Through Time The Great Composers Of Piano."

"Some lived in harder conditions and some had it easy, but when you talk about the back story, it can explain why they did this type of music," Adam said.

He said he plans to take the stories of the composers he researched and wrote about and use them to become a better musician.

Adam also added his first piano composition to the end of the book to give other children his age the story of a kid from Toledo who believed in himself.

"It's just incredible to be one of those kids that can do something in life and it can show others that no matter what you do you can reach as high as you can and you can still have more than you want," he said.

Now that Adam is a composer, his goal is to continue to encourage other children to learn the stories behind the music.

Adam's book is available online for on Walmart, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble websites for $36.

He published his first book, "Earth's Resources," when he was nine years old.
