Woman charged after hitting two motorcyclists with SUV

Toledo police told WTOL 11 that the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger are currently hospitalized with severe life-threatening injuries.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Two people on a motorcycle have been hospitalized after a collision with another vehicle on Airport Highway in south Toledo early Friday evening.

According to police, a 53-year-old man from Toledo and a 40-year-old woman from Toledo were riding a motorcycle east on Airport Highway at around 5:30 p.m. when Marquetta Shahid, 55, who was driving a Buick Enclave, turned west onto Airport Highway out of a private drive in the 3300 block.

According to investigators, Shahid struck the motorcycle, causing the bike an it's passengers to fall over.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger were transported to a local hospital with severe life-threatening injuries.  Toledo police on scene told WTOL 11 they were not believed to be wearing helmets.

Shahid was not injured, according to police.

First responders told investigators that Shahid had fled the scene, but returned after first responders arrived on scene.

Police believe that alcohol is considered a factor in the crash. Police reports show Shahid as having a B.A.C. of 0.132 at the time of her arrest.
