Is your street on Toledo's list for road work in 2024?

The city has work slated on more than 160 city streets this year.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo city officials announced the list of proposed street projects for 2024 at a Monday-morning news conference.

The city plans to spend more than $49 million in state, federal and local funding to address more than 100 lane miles of roads on more than 160 city streets.

Check the city's website here to see if your street is on the list. Check here for On Your Block meetings that the city is holding to discuss upcoming road construction.

The residential roads projects are funded through a 0.25 percent income tax that Toledo voters approved in 2020. The city also uses federal grants and state gas-tax money.

Toledo's street projects are divided among three categories:

  • Residential street resurfacing program, which will use $27 million from the city's street levy on 41.89 lane miles.
  • Patch and seal program, which will use $935,000 in state gas-tax revenue on 34 lane miles.
  • Major road projects, which will use $21.13 million ($12,83 million in state and federal grants and $8.3 million in local matching money) on 24.97 lane miles

In 2023, city voters approved a change to the Toledo City Charter that will now allow the city to use capital improvement funding for work on so-called "unimproved" streets through the city. These are streets without gutters, storm drains and sidewalks.

At Monday's news conference, city officials also shared that in 2023, Toledo crews filled more than 101,000 potholes and repaired more than 192,000 square feet of sidewalk throughout the city.
