TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department will be closed Tuesday due to excessive heat, with heat indices reaching triple digits by mid-day.
According to a press release from the department, the decision to close was made to ensure the safety and well-being of the public and employees. Additionally, the department's building, located at 635 N. Erie St. in downtown Toledo, has an air conditioning system that isn't functioning adequately, the department said.
All reproductive health and WIC appointments at the downtown location will be rescheduled, the department said, and added that the building would resume normal operations on Wednesday.
The department encouraged the public to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities and seek air-conditioning.
