Toledo Lucas County Public Library sets new in-house record for processing passports

Toledo Lucas County Public Library has been offering passport services since 2012, and in 2023 processed more than 3,600 passports.

TOLEDO, Ohio — If you're looking for help traveling internationally, the Toledo Lucas County Public Library can help you.

A library is a place for more than just books, said TLCPL spokesperson Susan Roudebush.

"We're a full-service passport acceptance agency," she said. "So, we can take your photo. We can help you with the forms. We have all the forms and then we also mail all of that in for you."

Two of the library system's 20 branches offer passport services: the Main library in downtown Toledo and the Sylvania location. Hours for both are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and
Friday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Only on Sundays, the Sylvania branch will process applications from 1–4 p.m. from September to May.

Roudebush said each location processes paperwork up until an hour before closing, so efficiency from start to finish is key for all.

"We have about 20 passport agents between the two locations and we processed a record number 3,606 applications last year," she said.

Since both branches tend to see an uptick in requests for processing in January and February, scheduling a processing appointment is preferred. It guarantees everyone will have a chance to get all their questions answered.

"When people come to the library, they know they're going to get an answer, but the right answer," Roudebush said.
