TEMPERANCE, Mich. — A Toledo man is dead after a motorcycle crash Tuesday evening in Bedford Township.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Nathaniel Vega, 20, of Toledo, was riding his motorcycle northbound on Lewis Avenue shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Vega was traveling at a high speed when he changed lanes to pass a box truck from behind, authorities said. After passing the box truck, he struck a vehicle that was entering Lewis Avenue from a private drive.
Vega fell from his motorcycle following the crash. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 47-year-old woman from Toledo, was not injured and was released at the scene.
The woman was wearing a seat belt and Vega was wearing a safety helmet, authorities said.
The incident is under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and speed is a factor in the crash.
