TOLEDO, Ohio — Police are investigating after officers found the driver of a vehicle that crashed in central Toledo early Saturday morning was suffering from a gunshot wound.
Shortly after 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Toledo police said Dominique Buford, 31, of Toledo was driving a vehicle westbound in the 1800 block of Oakwood Avenue when the vehicle crashed into a parked car.
Officers who arrived to deal with the crash discovered Buford had been shot. Buford was taken to a local hospital with what officers believed were non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.
A short time later, Christopher Wilson, 35, also of Toledo, arrived at the hospital, police said. Officers determined Wilson had been a passenger in Buford's vehicle, the police report said.
The police report also said officers later determined the shooting was related to an notification from the city's ShotSpotter system that captured the sound of gunfire in the 800 block of Door Street.
