TOLEDO, Ohio — If you don't know the Scott High School alma mater lyrics, well, you might not be a real Bulldog.
State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D, Toledo) broke into song in the General Assembly recently to show just how much his alma mater means to him.
Rogers, who introduced introduced HB 302, which would create a Jesup W. Scott license plate, was asked during a recent session if he knew his school's song by heart.
He responded by breaking into song in the Ohio State House of Representatives. He was joined by four other Scott alums in the chamber.
"If you don't know the alma mater -- come and join the songs of praise to our happy high school days -- you might not be a real Bulldog," Rogers said.
HB 302 has been sent to committee for consideration. If the bill becomes law it will allow anyone in Ohio to get a special Scott High School license plate for $10 more than the cost of a regular license plate.
The revenue from the special plate would go to Scott High School "to enhance learning opportunities."
