TOLEDO, Ohio — Police have charged a Toledo woman with trying to lure a child outside a Washington Local Schools elementary building Wednesday.
Crystl Ann Evans, 41, is charged with criminal child enticement after the incident, according to court records.
According to documents at Toledo Municipal Court, authorities said that at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, Evans was outside Greenwood Elementary School when she attempted to lure a 7-year-old girl.
Authorities said Evans called the girl by the wrong name and motioned for her to come toward her.
Two family members of the child witnessed the incident, according to court papers.
Washington Local Schools officials issued a statement about the incident Thursday:
Yesterday after school, Greenwood Elementary Staff members became aware of an individual lingering near our school building, who did not have any purpose for being there. School personnel immediately stepped in to address her and called Toledo Police. The individual left before police arrived but was apprehended shortly after.
Washington Local Schools increased security and patrols, as a precaution, and will continue to do so. The security of our students remains our top priority, and we will continue working with Toledo Police to ensure that all of our building campuses are safe.
