TOLEDO, Ohio — A person is dead after an apartment fire in west Toledo on Sunday morning, according to the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department.
The fire happened at the Richmar Manor apartments on West Alexis Road near Secor Road.
The structure fire call came in just before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Before firefighters arrived, Toledo Police officers performed CPR on an elderly male victim, who had been taken out of the apartment by a home health aide.
The victim was taken to the hospital where they passed away from their injuries.
While the damage appeared to be limited to a single unit at the apartment complex, smoke was seen pouring into the parking lot.
According to the fire chief on scene, the victim's apartment had working smoke detectors.
