TOLEDO (WTOL) - It’s a boy! The Toledo Zoo has given us an update the baby polar bear cub that was born in December.
This cute little cub was born weighing just one pound, but is now a healthy, 27-pound baby boy.
His official name is Borealis, a nod to the Northern Lights, but zoo staff say you can call also call him Bo or Boris.
We still don’t know when the public can meet little Bo, but zoo officials say he should be out and about by early spring.
Kim Haddix, communications coordinator for the zoo, said that it is all up to the cub and his mom, Crystal. Haddix said we will finally meet the baby cub when Crystal feels he is strong enough.
Both Borealis and Crystal are behind the scenes at the Toledo Zoo for the time being.
