TPD searching for person who crashed semi in to west Toledo building

Police at the scene told WTOL after the driver crashed the semi, they stole a pick-up truck from the parking lot and fled the scene.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are searching for the person that crashed a semi truck into a west Toledo building early Friday morning.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. on at an auto repair business on Lewis Avenue near San Mateo Drive. 

Police at the scene told WTOL they believe someone found their way into the back lot of the business and got into the semi, drove it through a fence and crashed into the building.

Police say that person then stole a pick-up truck from the lot and fled the scene.

Building inspectors were called out to examine the structural damage of the building.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call or text Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111. You can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
