TOLEDO, Ohio — One person died early Sunday after they were struck by a train in south Toledo, according to a police report.
Authorities responded to a 911 call from Norfolk Southern railroad shortly before 1 a.m. after they said a pedestrian was struck by a train at the railroad crossing on South Holland Sylvania Road. Emergency crews and Toledo police located the victim of the incident and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The incident is currently under investigation.
The Lucas County Coroner's Office on Monday requested assistance for help identifying the person. He is described as a young, white male estimated to be in his 20s. He is approximately 5 feet and 7 inches tall and 132 pounds. He also has "one amateur tattoo" of a star on his left forearm.
This comes as two other collisions involving trains occurred in northwest Ohio in the last four days. On Thursday, Nov. 30, a vehicle collided with an Amtrak train in the village of Holland, killing the driver of the vehicle.
On Saturday, another Amtrak train struck a vehicle in Lake Township at a railroad crossing. The vehicle became stuck on the tracks, but the driver was able to escape the vehicle before the collision and no injuries were reported.
