BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — Bowling Green's TriggaMeals has expanded from just carryout services to include DoorDash, now reaching 30-40 customers a day, said owner De'Ante Shivers.
The collaboration between the delivery service and food business, which runs out of a kitchen inside Ziggy's bar, began in February and has opened new doors.
"It's actually allowed me to connect with the residential side of town," Shivers, a Bowling Green State University graduate, said. "I have a good connection with the students being a former student, but the residents in the area who may not want to come around the bar crowd or don't want to leave the house, I've been able to connect with them a lot."
On Mondays, he is devoted to giving out free meals to local mothers and their families in the community.
"I enjoy giving back. I enjoy helping people out and enjoy using my blessing to be a blessing,” Shivers said.
Da'jon Humphrey, a BGSU student-athlete, said getting food from TriggaMeals is a special experience.
"A good environment that he brings, he makes it like a family. I look at him more like a brother," Humphrey said. "It’s always good to see someone from the hometown win. I've got to support that."
Shivers said the joy of serving people with a warm meal is priceless and he is looking forward to the future of his business.
"It just means a lot and the relationships that I've built and the connections that I have built are going to last a lifetime,” he said.
Shivers also said when the time is right, he hopes to expand beyond Ziggy's and open his own restaurant.
