TOLEDO, Ohio — A man was arrested and charged after crashing his pickup truck into a building in west Toledo.
Toledo police responded to a call about a vehicle that struck a building causing substantial damage on the 2000 block of West Laskey Road. When officers arrived, they located the scene on the right side of the building owned by Spartans Nutrition.
The driver of the truck, James Peterman, 50, of Toledo, fled the scene on foot. He was located several blocks away and taken into custody.
Peterman was not injured, according to police reports. He was charged with OVI.
WTOL 11 crews on the scene talked to clean-up crews and the building owner who said that the building was locked up and empty at the time of the crash and that no employees or customers were injured.
Toledo Fire & Rescue Department arrived at the scene to evaluate the building's structure. No updates were given as to when the business may reopen.
