MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — Two motorcyclists suffered serious injuries after a crash in Monroe County on Saturday evening, according to the Michigan State Police.
MSP says two motorcycles crashed in the area of Steffas Road and Heiss Road, west of Monroe around 7:55 p.m.
Police say three motorcycles were travelling north on Steffas Road just north of Heiss Road when two of the motorcycles failed to negotiate a curve in the road. Both motorcycles went off the road and into a ditch.
The third motorcyclist stopped and began helping the injured riders.
Police say the injured riders included a 43-year-old male from Carleton, Michigan who was taken to a hospital in Trenton, Michigan with critical injuries.
Another rider, a 34-year-old male from Southgate, Michigan, was also taken to the same hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say speed and alcohol played a factor in the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Michigan State Police at 734-242-3500.
