2 people rescued from burning home in south Toledo early Monday

Both individuals were taken to the hospital by Life Squad.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Emergency officials helped rescue two people from a burning home early Monday morning.

The blaze started around 3:45 a.m. on the 1100 block of Michele Drive just off of Byrne Road in south Toledo. 

Toledo police at the scene told WTOL officers removed one person in a wheelchair from the home prior to fire fighters arriving. Fire crews then rescued a second person in a wheelchair.

Both individuals were taken to the hospital by Life Squad. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Officers who were first at the scene told WTOL heavy smoke and fire was seen coming from the ranch-style home upon arrival. 

A fire investigator was called to help find the cause of the fire.
