FINDLAY, Ohio — If you're making big plans for the eclipse, why not go really big?
The University of Findlay has set up the picture-perfect selfie spot: two 8-foot-wide solar eclipse glasses.
The staff of UF's Mazza Museum were inspired by similar builds at the University of Kentucky and Tennessee.
Ben Sapp, director of the Mazza Museum, said along with a larger-than-life scale, the glasses are also practical.
"They are certified, they are safe and we hope that they will just add to the excitement come Monday," he said.
The glasses weren't even installed for more than a few hours before it became a gathering place for students, faculty and staff.
They also create excitement among people walking or driving past.
"I pulled in today and I saw them and I was very excited because I love a good photo op, and I feel like these are really cool," said Brittany Beltz, director of UF Corporate Engagement and Gifts.
The university will host plenty of eclipse-themed events on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the Mazza Museum and the university's Newhard Planetarium for those on campus and for anyone in the community looking for a fun spot to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime event.
"We've got our own college students also helping with stations and programming throughout the day, so, it'll be a community-wide, campus-wide kind of event." Sapp said. "Programming in the museum, as well as the Conda STEAM Education Center, there will be planetarium shows. We also have a newly retired senior engineer from NASA, he'll be here speaking."
One of the pairs of giant eclipse glasses will end up inside of the Conda STEAM Education Center after the eclipse.
And the other pair?
The university currently looking for a potential permanent home if there are any takers.
