MAUMEE, Ohio —
Maumee residents will have to start looking for a new place to ship packages and make returns.
UPS confirmed the customer center on Holland Road in Maumee is set to close its doors on Nov. 15.
This is the second UPS location to recently close, with the one on West Dussel Drive closing last year.
In a statement from UPS, it said this is one of many locations closing "to better align with our customer's preferences for more convenient and easily accessible drop-off locations."
One long-term customer of the store said she's been going to the location for years and loves it because of the quality of service she receives there.
"The staff is actually amazing," Maumee resident Smita Patel said. "I've come for years and years, and if I forget something they'll be able to help me figure out what to do. They're very customer friendly."
Maumee resident Barbara Stoos said she doesn't always use this location, but when she does the staff is very efficient.
The statement said there are other resources like UPS access point locations and UPS drop boxes to use.
"I have gone to Kohl's for Amazon returns, but this is so much quicker and so much more efficient that it's really my number one choice," Patel said.
There are UPS access point locations in Holland and Perrysburg, and a store in Perrysburg too.
With holiday shopping and shipping just around the corner, customers say the convenience of this store is going to be missed.
"It's frustrating because at Christmas time when you're mailing packages and so forth," Stoos said. "Holidays are coming up, birthdays. There's not going to be another one close by."
Stoos and Patel both said they think losing this location will be hard for residents.
"I do think it will be a big disservice to our community if this center closes," Patel said.
The customer center is at the UPS hub in Maumee, but only the customer center is closing.
